Fence Line Clearing & Evaluation in Melissa, TX

Selective clearing, root-conflict assessment, and pruning along property boundaries, to protect fences, document neighbor-tree concerns, and resolve boundary disputes with evidence.

Why Fence-line Trees Are Their Own Problem

Fence lines are one of the most common sources of tree-related damage on residential and HOA properties, and one of the most common sources of disputes with neighbors. Trees pressing against fencing, root systems lifting concrete, limbs hanging from the neighbor’s side, branches scraping in the wind: every one of those becomes a documentation question, a liability question, or both.

Tree MD’s handles fence-line work as a specialized service, not a side task during a removal. We clear, prune, document, and recommend with the property line in mind from the start.

What We Do on a Fence Line

Selective Clearing

Removal of brush, volunteer trees, and undesirable understory growth that’s pressing against the fence or growing through it. We pull the cleared material out, leave the fence intact, and grind any stumps left behind that would re-sprout.

Boundary Tree Assessment

For trees on or near the property line, we identify:

  • Trunk position, whose property the tree’s actually on, by the trunk-center rule used in most Texas property cases
  • Root-system reach, where the roots are going, and whether they’re causing damage to footings, irrigation, or hardscape
  • Canopy overhang, where limbs cross the line, which side has standing to prune, and which side is responsible for the resulting debris
  • Health and risk, whether the tree is structurally sound or whether it’s a hazard to either property

Pruning that Protects the Fence

Limbs scraping a wood fence destroy the finish in a single windy season. Limbs against a stone or stucco wall do worse. We prune for clearance, keeping foliage at least 2–3 feet off the fence line, and remove deadwood that’s likely to fall against the fence in the next storm.

Written Documentation

For boundary disputes or HOA escalations, we provide a written summary with photos: tree position, condition, recommended action, and who has standing to act. This is what a property manager, HOA board, or your insurance company actually needs when a neighbor’s tree damages your property.

Common Fence-line Projects

  • Pre-fence-replacement clearing, clearing before a new fence goes in, so the contractor isn’t pricing around overgrowth
  • Post-storm cleanup, removal of trees and limbs that fell against shared fencing during high winds
  • Recurring HOA fence-line maintenance, scheduled clearing on community common-area boundaries
  • Boundary tree disputes, documentation and selective pruning for neighbor-tree issues
  • Acreage perimeter clearing, see acreage clearing and thinning for larger-scope land work

What This Service Doesn’t Include

  • Fence repair or replacement, we work around fencing but don’t repair it; we’ll recommend a fence contractor if needed.
  • Cutting trees on the neighbor’s side, without their written authorization, we only work to the property line.
